Plumb Centres were requiring a technological overhaul to enable them to meet the needs of a 21st-century retail branch. This included being able to have faster stock control, ordering customer goods and having a new customer interfacing device.
The Challenge
UCS Technologies (who are partnered with Capita) were tasked with delivering the physical infrastructure within all 670 Plumb Centres nationwide.
It was essential that the work could be completed over a 14-month period without the need for client downtime. Therefore, reducing commercial losses.
What UCS Technologies Did
Working alongside the client’s management team, UCS Technologies were able to deploy engineering teams nationwide to install the new ICT physical infrastructure. This included low-level outlets for PCs, printers and IP telephones. High-level outlets were also installed for wi-fi access points.
To ensure the client's timescale was met, UCS Technologies ensured sufficient resources were deployed. Resulting in an average of 12 installations per week.
It was critical to ensure a seamless transition so that the client's branches could continue to serve clients and not lose revenue.
The Technical Solution
The solution deployed included a system featuring category 5e UTP cabling this enabled connectivity throughout each branch.
