Client Background

Motel One, a sleek and elegant selection of hotels, who are expanding from the continent into the UK, with some four built in the UK to date. T Clarke is one of the countries leading M&E contractors within the construction industry. T Clarke is one of the country’s leading mechanical and electrical contractors within the construction industry, they were awarded the contract with Motel One for a new hotel.

The Challenge

Within the heart of Newcastle, Motel One’s new hotel utilised an already existing but dilapidated building alongside new construction. Both of the buildings had to support modern-day facilities and technology that would enhance the clienteles experience. UCS Technologies were responsible for the delivery of a complete communication infrastructure made up of ICT, TV and mobile handset elements. As part of the client’s commitment to green energy, UCS Renewables was awarded the contract to install a solar PV system.

What UCS Technologies Did

UCS consulted the construction team and client consultant to ensure the best solution. The final solution needed to work for the hotel staff and guests to provide a positive experience.

The Technical Solution

The deployed solution featured leading-edge passive cabling and an active equipment infrastructure that was installed the new hotel. Category 6 UTP cabling was installed to service outlets for PCs, minibars and IP telephones. Higher-level access points were added for wi-fi access points in corridors. UCS Technologies – an approved CAI certified installer – designed, planned and implemented a new multi-channel TV system. Integrating the client’s preferred hospitality TV service which allowed guests to have full control of their in-room entertainment.

Key Features

  • TV system
  • Televes hotel distribution system
  • OM3 backbone infrastructure
  • Category 6 UTP outlets
  • 4g mobile signal booster compatible with mobile networks
  • Solar PV system estimated output 6.3kw
  • Reduced carbon emissions

The Outcome

The best thing I can say is; this is classed as one of the finest hotels in Newcastle with some of the best reviews. We’re happy to say the customer is delighted with the quality of the install.
