Merit Health was established in 2002, with the aim of providing off site construction method that enhances design, efficiency of installation, health & safety and build methodologies. From major infrastructure works in Harrods and the Royal Albert Hall to delivering a suite of cleanroom and laboratory projects for GSK. Merit prides itself in having the knowledge and experience to build technical spaces to suit the most complex of environments.
Merit’s client Moderna had a brief to provide a new premises which required new clean rooms, laboratory spaces along with a high quality office space.
The Challenge
UCS Technologies consultancy team were introduced at stage 3 Design to understand both Moderna’s requirements and Merits drivers to deliver the project. Merit used its new UltraPod+ product for the first time, a fully offsite manufactured platform design with integrated architecture and services, enabling project delivery time to be halved. An innovative infrastructure solution was required by the team at UCS Technologies to blend the network infrastructure in to the MEP solution.
The Technical Solution
The adoption of Consolidation Points (CP) into the network infrastructure design allows off site installations of network end points to be fitted and tested in the factory alongside the MEP package. Going further, we utilised pre-terminated OM4 fibre looms to provide a fully tested and warranted structured cabling solution. Once landing on site, the SCS was a simple plug and play, minimising traditional site installation risks traditionally common with new builds.

The Outcome
