UCS Technologies worked alongside the UK’s largest provider of turnkey solutions, delivering portable & permanent buildings for use across all sectors.
As part of the nuclear division, a contract was awarded for delivering client project offices and site facilities. UCS Technologies were tasked with delivering stage one of the project's implementation.
The Challenge
UCS had to undertake the installation of a completely secure and physical ICT infrastructure throughout the project offices and associated buildings. This was completed by working alongside other trades under controlled working practices within a short time frame.
In partnership with the client, it was essential to create a robust ICT infrastructure that utilised enhanced segregation methods that met the security needs of the client. It also provided a network that services the Hinkley Point management team.
What UCS Technologies Did
With a clear understanding of the client’s brief, UCS were engaged from an early point in the project to ensure all staff were properly vetted and security processed. Engineers were assigned to the project in advance of site commencement.
To meet the client’s six-week timescale, UCS Technologies ensured sufficient resource was allocated to the project. It was critical to ensure a seamless transition as the client was looking to occupy the building ahead of the proposed construction phase.
The Technical Solution
The solution installed included a category 6 UTP cabling system that was installed throughout the project offices. This system offered connectivity with dual resilience.
The new building featured low-level outlets for PCs, printers and IP telephones. High-level outlets were also installed for Wi-Fi access points and projectors.
