HD Base-T is a connectivity standard approved by the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE). This standard in a variety of fields including audio-visual, automotive, consumer and industrial.
This global standard was introduced in 2010 and it’s ‘5 play feature’ has become widely adopted. This allows for a combination of HD Video, audio ethernet, USB and control signals to be transmitted via a single cable.
Cat 5e and Cat 6 cables are often used for audio-visual installations and can span up to 100 metres. Fibre optic cabling is often used for medical applications as the transmission range is much further.
HD Base-T is an affordable and reliable option as maintenance costs are often reduced due to the limited amount of components used within the infrastructure and with the addition of HD Base Anti-Jamming solutions, the technology can resist signal interference during high quality transmissions.
